Welcome to the New Member Deck!
These pages contain material that hopes to be of value
to a new member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. It's a bit of
an experiment and we need your help. You, the Auxiliary members, have to give us feedback about how we're doing. Let us know what you like, what should be added, and what we can do without.
Please come along side and work together with us to develop these
pages.
One addition is the New Member Orientation. The
first year in the Auxiliary is challenging because there is so
much to learn. It isn't that the information is not
available - there actually is much information in many
locations. Our New Member Orientation attempts to consolidate
many of the things a new member needs to know and provides some
links to additional information. Some of these pages are
for a specific geographical location. If you're in the San
Francisco Bay Area you can get your uniform by visiting Coast
Guard Island. How do you get your uniform in your
area? If you have someone to work with the D11NR web team we
will be glad to add this and other local information in a New
Member Orientation page specific for your area.
Are you Approval Pending (AP), Initially Qualified (IQ), or Basically Qualified
(BQ)? What this means and how to navigate through it is
often important for a new member, and it's
an example of why we are going to try a How To page.
This will try to give a brief description with links explaining How
To get things done, such as becoming BQ, Boat Crew Qualified,
or a Vessel Examiner. Again, this is where we can use some
help from folks who know how to accomplish some particular
thing. Let us know if you'd like to submit a How To.
Did You Hear About all the fun, interesting, and
educational stories Auxiliary members have to share? Much of who
we are and what we do is captured in Auxiliarist's
experiences. We'd like to gather up some of these stories
and bring them to you here. Got a story to share?
Please let the D11NR web team know so we can add it to our
collection.
Wondering about a Mustang, the boats and helos used by the
Coast Guard, or what goes on at an OPTREX? There are links
that will give you some information. Let us know what else
you would to like to see.
Suggestions can be sent to Webmaster / DSO-CS 11NR
